Corporate Benefits Administrator - Flint, MI



ROWE Professional Services Company, a leading civil engineering and surveying consulting firm headquartered in downtown Flint’s growing business sector, is currently seeking an experienced Benefits Administrator to join our growing team. The Benefits Administrator will play a pivotal role in leveraging external resources with internal partners to assess and enhance existing benefits’ processes and programs. You will report to the Director of Human Resources and will work closely with both the human resources and accounting departments at our corporate headquarters. ce.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with all aspects of health and welfare benefit plans including medical/RX, dental, vision, life, AD&D, disability, flexible spending accounts and supplemental lines of coverage
• Manage the day-to-day administration of the plans by supporting plan participants and vendors
• Provide support for the various plan audits and assist with the preparation of the 5500’s, 1095’s, etc.
• Audit, reconcile and coordinate remittance for benefit-related invoices, including researching and resolving bill errors and discrepancies and oversee the tracking of changes, charges and refunds
• Provide timely eligibility, enrollment and benefit plan information to participants
• Act as the primary point-of-contact for plan participants to coordinate the resolution of claims, enrollment, and eligibility issues
• Coordinate open enrollment and annual benefit renewal processes
• Administer ROWE’s time off programs including long-term disability, Family Medical Leave, and ADA requests for accommodations and provide education and support for the management of leaves
• Coordinate benefit and leave transactions affecting employees’ wages and taxes with payroll team, ensuring timely, accurate communication and documentation relating to benefit deductions, plan remittances and management of paid and unpaid leaves
• Assist in developing communication strategies to ensure benefit programs are fully understood during recruitment, new hire orientation, and open enrollment
• Analyze, interpret and manage benefit program rules and policies to ensure ROWE’s programs are competitive and are administered in compliance with federal and state regulatory agencies
• Support all other human resources initiatives and functions as assigned

Qualifications and Requirements

• Must be collaborative with the ability to build relationships with employees, managers and vendors
• Must be able to wear multiple hats and manage several projects with thoroughness
• Must serve as a subject matter expert in regulatory compliance (ACA, ADA, COBRA, ERISA, FMLA, HIPPA, Section 125 Cafeteria Plans, etc.)
• Must think analytically and thrive in the details
• Must have sound judgment, knowing when and how to involve key stakeholders
• Must be a cost-conscious, systematic thinker who can improve processes and efficiencies
• Must have a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field
• Must have a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience as a dedicated benefits administrator
• Must be proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and benefit driven HRIS systems
• CEBS designation, Certificate in Benefit Plan Administration or similar a plus
